Softball clinic to be held Aug. 2 in New Ulm

NEW ULM — A catching and hitting clinic for softball players age 10 and up will be held Wednesday, Aug. 2 at the Jefferson Elementary School Field in New Ulm.

Coaches participating are Rachael Click, the head softball coach at the College of St. Benedict; Mike Eveslage, who was the catching coach at the CSB; and Bob Mertz, the 36-year head coach at New Ulm Cathedral. Also instructing will be former New Ulm Cathedral softball player Karlee Pfaff, who is a senior catcher at the CSB.

The catching clinic has a limit of 20 catchers. There will be two age levels, 10-14 and 15-and-up. That clinic have a check-in at 8:30 a.m., running from 9-11 a.m. Participants must provide their own catching gear. There is a $50 participation fee.

The hitting clinic will have a check-in at 12:15 p.m. and run from 1-3 p.m. Participants are asked to bring their own bats and helmets. The cost for that clinic is also $50.

This clinic runs for all participants from age 10 and up.

In case of inclement weather, the clinics will be held at the New Ulm Girls’ Fastpitch Facility.
