NEW ULM — New Ulm VFW Gold had little trouble handling Sibley East on Wednesday, picking up a 15-1 win in five innings at Mueller Park.

Teddy Giefer received the complete-game win for Gold, allowing four hits and two walks for one run. He also struck out three batters, while adding two hits and an RBI on the offensive end.

“Teddy’s a great left-handed pitcher,” Gold coach Mike Munce said. “[We] got him the lead and he kind of took over from there. Very efficient start from him.”

Jaden Domeier went 4 for 4 for Gold with four runs scored and an RBI. Also for Gold, Noah Hauge added two hits, a double and a pair of RBIs, while Colten Schaefer had two hits and three RBIs.

Giefer started the game off with a 1-2-3 first inning for Gold and his offense added two runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 2-0. After another quick inning for Giefer, Gold added another four runs off of five hits and an error in the bottom of the second to lead 6-0.

Even though Sibley East made a pitching change in the third inning, Gold had no intentions of scaling back its attack, adding five runs off of five hits and two errors to lead 11-1.

Gold added its final four runs in the fourth inning on four hits and an error, led by RBIs from Schaefer, Giefer, Hauge, and Owen Rich.

Gold battered Sibley East for 17 hits, with eight of them coming off of the starting pitcher Lucas Dose. Gold also played error-free baseball, countering Sibley East’s five errors.

“The boys hit the ball well,” Munce said. “[They] played defense, put a lot of balls in play and kind of took it to them tonight.”

VFW Gold plays Willmar at 5:30 p.m. Thursday for a doubleheader at Mueller Park.
