Lux named Tomahawk Conference Player of the Year

SLEEPY EYE — Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s, had several honored this past season by the Tomahawk Conference, according to an All-Conference news release.

Senior pitcher Anna Lux was named the Conference Player of the Year. She was 21-3 in the circle with an ERA of 1.92 and she hit .438 at the plate with 23 RBIs.

She was joined on the first team by teammates Ali Beltz, Jody Hansen and Mallory Helget.

New Ulm Cathedral’s McKenna Berdan, Rose Hazuka, Josie Pautzke and Lauryn Franta were named to the team , along with Wabasso’s Alison Benz and Emily Benz. Springfield’s Kate Quesenberry, Sleepy Eye’s M’Kayla Mike, Minnesota Valley Lutheran’s Hannah Biedenbender and Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop’s Tori Sweely were also named all-conference.

Honorable mention selections include Springfield’s McKensie Schwanke and Briana Schmidt, Sleepy Eye’s Mariah Miller and Courtney Dittbenner, Cathedral’s Mason Brand and Nicole Gangelhoff, St. Mary’s Megan Labat, Wabasso’s Megan Rothmeier and MVL’s Kylie Ulrich.

St. Mary’s coach Wendy Owens was named Coach of the Year.
