Brewers derail St. James Express

NEW ULM — J.T. Hoffmann, Landon Rewitzer and Jason Shaul each had two hits — with Shaul’s second hit being a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh — as the New Ulm Brewers derailed the St. James Express 11-0 Sunday at Johnson Park in a Tomahawk East League game.

Wade French got the win for the Brewers (5-4)). He went six innings and held St. James to just two hits. Nick Fischer pitched the top of the seventh.

Brady Halvorsen took the loss for the Express (1-8). He gave up eight runs in 3 2/3 innings.

Rewitzer drove in three runs for the Brewers, with Dylan Klein and Shaul each driving in two runs.

The Brewrers, who host Searles Friday night at 8 p.m. at Mueller Park, plated six runs in the second. Big hits were a Klein two-run double and a Rewitzer two-run single.

New Ulm added two more in the fourth on an Eric Austvold single and a Rewitzer single.

The Brewers ended the game in the seventh on an RBI double from Sweere followed by Shaul’s two-run homer.
