Eagles pound Trojans

NEW ULM – New Ulm defeated Worthington 6-1 in a Big South Conference girl’s soccer game on Saturday at New Ulm High School.

Paige Kalis scored two goals – one in both halves – for the Eagles (4-8). Michelle Rosenhamer, Madison Roufs, Elle Cooper and Nori Ness all scored goals in the second half to break the 1-1 halftime score.

Emily Schotzko had four saves.

New Ulm plays at 5 p.m. Thursday at Mankato Loyola.

BOY’S SOCCER

WORTHINGTON – New Ulm lost to Worthington 4-0 in a Big South Conference boy’s soccer game on Saturday.

New Ulm (4-7) returns to action Monday, when it hosts Marshall.

VOLLEYBALL

NICOLLET – Sleepy Eye went 1-3 at the Nicollet volleyball tournament on Saturday.

Sleepy Eye split with Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton and lost to Nicollet and Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity.

In the four matches, Mya Ibberson had 35 kills, McKenzie Cselovszki had 16 kills, Cassidy Hoffmann had 65 set assists and Mariah Miller had nine kills.

Nicollet did not submit its stats or results to The Journal.
