NEW ULM – St. Peter defeated New Ulm on Thursday in a Big South Conference boy’s soccer match.

Nate Miller scored New Ulm’s lone goal in the first half.

No other statistics were available.

New Ulm (3-4, 4-6) will play at Worthington on Saturday.

GFW 3, St. Mary’s 2

SLEEPY EYE – Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop’s Jenn Palmer had 32 set assists and went over 1,000 for her career as the Thunderbirds survived a five-set thriller with Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s on Thursday.

GFW won the first two sets, dropped the next two but claimed the fifth for the 25-16, 27-25, 22-25, 18-25, 15-13 Tomahawk Conference win.

Tori Sweely had 12 kills and Haley Schwecke had 10 kills for GFW. Sweely also had six blocks and Keegan Hanson had 22 digs. Halley Busse had 19 digs and Palmer had 18 digs.

GFW hosts New Ulm Cathedral on Monday.

BLHS 3, Sleepy Eye 0

HECTOR – Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart swept Sleepy Eye 25-19, 25-15-, 25-16 on Thursday in a Tomahawk Conference volleyball match.

For BLHS, Madison Ehlers had 26 set assists, Keighly Daak had 15 set assists, Cassie Hettinger added eight kills and Morgan Baldry had eight digs.

For Sleepy Eye, Cassidy Hoffmann had 12 set assists and Mya Ibberson had seven kills. Courtney Dittbenner had seven digs.

BLHS will host Springfield on Tuesday. Sleepy Eye will participate in a tournament in Nicollet with United South Central, Lester Prairie-Holy Trinity and Cleveland on Saturday.

MCW 3, Madelia 0

SHERBURN – Martin County West downed Madelia 27-25, 25-21, 25-18 on Thursday in a Valley Conference volleyball match.

Lizzie Cooling led Madelia with 34 set assists, 11 digs and three kills. Briana Ardolf added 10 digs and Melodie DeViaeminck added had five blocks, six kills and one dig.

Madelia (2-15, 0-5) will face Westbrook-Walnut Grove in the St. Clair Invitational Tournament on Saturday.

Nicollet 3, Cleveland 0

NICOLLET – Nicollet swept Cleveland 25-14, 25-17, 28-26 on Thursday in a Valley Conference volleyball match.

Natasha Young had 18 kills and Lindsey Boerger added 12 kills. Hannah Beckius had nine digs and Nicole Hall had 28 set assists.

Nicollet (6-8, 3-2) will host Sleepy Eye, United South Central, Lester Prairie-Holy Trinity and Cleveland on Saturday in a tournament.

WWG 3, RRC 2

LAMBERTON – Westbrook-Walnut Grove edged Red Rock Central 11-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 15-9 on Thursday in a Red Rock Conference volleyball match.

Rachel Kedl had 21 digs, 19 kills, 10 set assists and three blocks. Keennedi Janssen had 23 set assists with three blocks, and Haley Simonson added 20 set assists. Hannah DeCock had 13 kills. Brittany Bierl added 18 digs.

RRC will play at Cedar Mountain/Comfrey on Monday.

Girl’s soccer

St. Peter 2, New Ulm 0

ST. PETER – St. Peter blanked New Ulm on Thursday in a Big South Conference girl’s soccer match.

The Saint scored one goal seven minutes into the first half and its second goal came at the 15 minute mark of the second half.

Emily Schotzko had 16 saves for the Eagles. New Ulm had four shots on goal.

New Ulm (3-8) will host Worthington at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
