NU Steel lose 4-3 in opener

SAUK RAPIDS – In their inaugural game since moving from the Twin Cities, the New Ulm Steel junior hockey team lost 4-3 to the Granite City Lumberjacks on Saturday in Sauk Rapids.

The Steel (0-1) fell behind 3-0 after the first period, but scored twice in the second period to cut the lead to 4-2 after two. The Steel scored once in the third period.

Dylan Lievermann scored the first goal for the Steel and Jared Erickson scored the second and third period.

The Steel make their home debut on Friday, when they host the Alexandria Blizzard. The game is set to start at 7:10 p.m.
