Football round-up: Springfield blows out RRC

LAMBERTON - Springfield's Carter Erickson passed for 140 yards, rushed for 29 yards and scored three touchdowns overall as the Tigers took it to Red Rock Central in a Southern Minnesota Conference game on Friday night.

Other Springfield contributers included Nick Runck who had 10 carries for 59 yards and a touchdown while Justin Macht had 67 yards rushing himself. Bobby Klabunde led the defense with 9 tackles.

Springfield (1-0) will travel to Hector to take on conference foe BLHS next Friday at 7 p.m.

Madelia 50, Renville County West 13

DANUBE - Madelia scored 44 points in the first half en-route to a 50-13 win over Renville County West Friday night in a Southern Confederacy Conference nine-man high school football game.

Quarterback Kyle Schultz of Madelia was 14-for-25 passing, he threw four touchdown passes and he scored a touchdown on a 12 yard run. Jack Bergeman rushed for two touchdowns Bergeman had 12 tackles and one interception defensively. Jake Denn caught two passes for touchdowns for the Blackhawks. Denn had eight tackles and two sacks. Zach Baumgarter added four sacks. Derrick VanHee rushed for two touchdowns for Madelia.

Madelia (1-0) hosts Nicollet (1-0) next Friday night.

Nicollet 57, Southwestern United 0

BREWSTER - In the season opener for Nicollet, the Raiders blew out host Southwestern United by a score of 57-0 in a game played on Thursday evening.

Dalton Elliott was 13-17 passing with 239 yards and five touchdowns, and ran for another 65 yards. Jay Hendrycks had a pair of touchdown grabs, while Matt Fischer added a touchdown grab. Kenny Fischer caught a 73 yard touchdown pass and a had a 45 yard touchdown run for the Raiders. Travis Murphy hauled in a 29 yard touchdown pass and ran for 75 yards as well. Gavin Nourie also scored on a four yard run.

Defensively, Colin Bloemke had eight tackles and a sack for Nicollet.

Nicollet improves to 1-0 and will travel to Madelia for a showdown next Friday night.
