NEW ULM - The New Ulm Area Foundation celebrated the awarding of its 2013 Spring Grants at a luncheon at the NU Chef's Panty. All of the organizations that received grants were represented.
The spring 2013 Grants awarded were as follows:
New Ulm Battery: $1,000 for the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg and founding of the New Ulm Battery; ProKinship for Kids: $2,000 for academic mentoring; Friends of German Park: $700 for their inter-cultural demonstration at the park; Putting Green: $1,500 for the fence at the community garden; Boy Scout Troop 25: $250 for improvements at Junior Pioneer Park in New Ulm; New Ulm Christkindlmarkt: $1,000 for an old world European style festival featuring handmade works and performances by local artisans; Healthy Community Healthy Youth: $1,000 for the S.P.O.T.S. program; Quiltistry: $1,000 for a celebration of the art and history of quilting; Milford Township: $3,000 for the relocation and renovation of the Town Hall.

The New Ulm Area Foundation also presented a check for $10,000 to the Grand Center for the Arts and Culture as the second installment of a three-year commitment to the project.
