NEW ULM - Two funeral directors have recently joined the staff at Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes & Cremation Services.
Nicole E. Frisk joined the staff as a licensed funeral director in June 2012. She completed a year of internship with the funeral home from September 2011 until July 2012 when she received her license to practice Mortuary Science. Frisk is a graduate of Mankato West High School and the University of Minnesota. She received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Mortuary Science and a minor in Russian Language in May 2011. Frisk previously worked at funeral homes in the Twin Cities and Mankato area.
Frisk has become active in the New Ulm community. She is a member of the American Cancer Society, the New Ulm Sertoma Club, and the Goosetown Roller Girls Flat Track Roller Derby League. She is also a member of the National Funeral Directors Association.

Kari S. Obbink joined the staff at Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes in April. Obbink is a native of Sibley, Iowa. She graduated from Sibley-Ocheyedan High School in 2006. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in December of 2010 with a major in psychology from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D. She then attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, Ill., which is a suburb of Chicago. While at Worsham, she was required to do practical experiences which included time at the Robert J. Stein Institute of Forensic Medicine with the Cook County Medical Examiner's office in Chicago. She recently passed her National Board exams and the Minnesota State Exam. She is doing a 12-month internship with the staff at Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes, and she will become licensed in April of 2014. She intends to remain on staff at Minnesota Valley after her internship is completed.
