ESTHERVILLE, Iowa - Sleepy Eye High School graduate Allie Renberg was named to the first-ever Iowa Lakes Community College Athletics Hall of Fame on March 1.

Six-foot, one-inch Renberg was the 2005-2006 Iowa Lakes team scoring, rebounding, blocked shot and field goal accuracy leader, averaging 15.3 points and 8.8 rebounds a game while blocking 32 shots in 31 games and making 51 percent of her field goal attempts.

After graduating from Iowa Lakes, Renberg received a full scholarship at Emporia (Kansas) State University where she scored more than 600 points and had more than 300 rebounds. She helped the team reach the NCAA Division II Elite 8 and Sweet 16 tournaments and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Renberg, who lives in Lawrence, Kan., and teaches fifth-grade in Topeka, Kan., thanked her parents, Brian and Mary, and grandparents, Loren and Pat for their support during her basketball playing career.

Renberg plans to run the Kansas City Warrior Dash 5k (3.1 mile) road race with obstacles in April.
