Dolores Mary Eigen

COMFREY - Dolores Mary Eigen was born on Oct. 12, 1915, to Anton and Eva Hengel in New Ulm. She was united in marriage to Bernard Eigen on Nov. 25, 1941 in New Ulm. They took up residence in the home they built in Comfrey.

Dolores was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Besides being a homemaker she also helped out part-time in the Meat Market/Grocery Store that was owned by Bernard and his brother, Ray. She was also active on many committees having to do with Band Mothers, Firemen's Banquets, Comfrey Harvest Days, and church dinners. She was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. She was an active member of the Christian Mothers Society and St . Mary's Circle. She loved to read, knit, crochet, and quilt. She was a great cook and loved to bake, especially at Christmas time when the entire house smelled of fresh baked Christmas cookies.

Dolores passed away at the age of 97 years on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Bernard; parents, Anton and Eva Hengel; step-mother, Frances Hengel; son, John, and sister, Anastasia "Daisy" Dauer.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Marlowe) Marsh of Hewitt; son, Russell (Andrea) of Annandale; grandchildren, Denise (Jason) McGovern; Wendy (fianc Jerry Fink) Marsh; Janelle (Brad) Phares; Greg (Carey) Eigen; great-grandchildren, Katie McGovern, Jared Morley, Logan Phares, and Sophie and Owen Eigen, and nieces, nephews, and friends.

There will be visitation from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed immediately by a funeral Mass on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 at St Paul's Catholic Church, Comfrey. Interment will be at St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery.
