NEW ULM - The New Ulm girls hockey team fell to 1-1 on the season after dropping a 7-1 nonconference loss to Willmar Tuesday night at the New Ulm Civic Center.
Willmar got the scoring going at the 6:08 mark of the first period when Ameilia Amon scored unassisted.
The Cardinals went up 2-0 when Annie Johnston scored off of an assist from Lauren Sing.

New Ulm's only goal of the night came at 1:30 in the second period when Brittany Denn scored unassisted. Willmar's Miranda Roelofs answered on an assist from Riley Schneider at 4:35.
Shelby Schneider added to Willmar's lead with a goal at 5:17 (assist by Brittney Serbus) and Samantha Block (assist by Brooke Mayer and Annie Johnson) and Sing (assist from Serbus and Mayer) put the Cardinals up 6-1 after two periods.
The Cardinals got a late goal in the third period when Block scored unassisted at the 9:11 mark.
Despite the loss, New Ulm outshot Willmar 48-33 in the contest. Willmar had 10 penalty minutes and New Ulm had six penalty minutes for the game.
Bailey Landreville had 26 saves for the Eagles and Madison Sandberg stopped 47 shots for Willmar.
New Ulm (1-1) is at Faribault on Saturday.
