One has to have a point in order for another to miss it.

This thread is about a new dog park. The reason this group was formed and their objectives have a clear and stated purpose.

Your weak-kneed attempt to make me some sort of overseer of money is nothing but juvenile at best. The only reason I can see for it (your point) is because you can find no valid and moral reason for your stance supporting the pastoral center and are trying to deflect your rationalization back on me. The Catholic Church can spend their donations how they see fit whether it be for defending lawsuits or building a 7 million dollar monument to displaying their own sense of vanity. You can attempt to justify it all you want but you will never change how I feel. I think the money could have been better spent. So, stop wasting your typing skills on me.

Congratulations on the dog park, folks. I'm glad to see your efforts coming to fruition.

How can an article and situation about a bunch of volunteers from all walks, getting together, raising funds to offer an amenity to a community get turned into some big argument? So quickly you all lose sight. Go dog park, and thanks to the volunteers and donors!

My comment was in response to the previous post.

I think the dog park is a great thing. I hope it is well used.

What has it done for local jobs? Half the contractors have employees that don't live here or spend money here, the other half don't pay squat, but the owners have nice houses across the river.

you missed the point JReader, you seem to be the oversear of spending money in town, pointing out things that are overbuilt and using money which could have been used for better things, I hae no problem with people raising money for things they feel are needed and which will make the community better. kind of like the good the new pastoral center will do and has done in the form of local jobs, ever thought of that angle before you bash the size of it?

Seriously I am happy for the dog park. I have a dog and now I know that when I drive around town and when I see five city workers at a project and three of them are just leaning on shovels, I know where the ones leaning on the shovels will be now.

I am excited about the dog par also! It makes Kraft losing 40 jobs seem insignificant.

Your catholic guilt must be in overdrive...

It's a dog park. I understand that compassion is a term that may be foreign to you so I realize I might be wasting my time trying to explain this to you.

People love their dogs. They want a safe place for them to exercise and to interact. Caring people do those sorts of things. They care so much they raised money for it themselves. Yes, even I contributed. I thought it was a very good thing for our community.

You should try looking past yourself some time. Maybe you need to go to confession.

Just checking if the people who raised the money for this checked with the New Ulm crew for watching for wasteful spending? People like JReader should always be consulted before anyone in New Ulm spends money, regardless if through donations or not

Hopefully the city doesn't wreck it when they dump snow nearby.
