I want to thank the descendants who were present for this event last night at New Ulm. These settlers' stories need to be told and unless we descendants tell them and keep telling them they will be lost. There are so many other stories out there just like those told last night and they are an important part of the history of Minnesota and of the United States. This subject should be taught in our schools and when every child graduates from high school in Minnesota they should know it. The fact that it is still such an emotional subject shows its importance. If you don't know about it, ask questions. Education is the key to understanding.
