"The second and third-year salary numbers each represent an approximate 1 percent increase, mirroring deals recently signed with other employee groups in the school district."

Not picking on Bertrang (we're going to miss him at GFW), but I find it troubling when ANY employer gives a same percentage raise to his employees.

"One percent raises across the board!" the boss shouts out. But think about it:

The 12.50/hr employee gets an .88 cents per hour raise, while the 125,000.00/yr employee will get a $4.20 per hour raise...all based on the same percentage increase. This eventually broadens the disparity between the lower paid workers and the higher paid ones. Whatever happened to monetary increases? (Heck, I remember the day when we were happy to have a 10- or 25-cent per hour raise!)

(I figured and rounded these numbers using 2080 hours per did I do?)

If teachers are being underpaid, maybe next contract time you can pull some money from/benefits from these 2 non-teaching positions and spread it out among the teachers in the trenches. Between salary, full-health benefits, vacation, holiday, etc., these administrative positions seem very highly compensated. Now it's obvious where the passed referendum will go - new super, increases for 2 current positions.

Well, I have reread the article and it says his contract includes the following "Full payment by the district of the premium for "FAMILY" health insurance.

I have been reading that the new contracts for all school employees were following the 1% across the board. It says the Tech Director Simmons will recieve $64,500 next year and $67,000 the following year. What is he making now? His increase is right around 4% for these years. How much of an increase is he going from his current wage to "next year"? The Journal "failed" to mention that, or the school board "failed to tell" that!

Doesn't Bertrang already get health coverage from the military?

If you read the article, Wee3wh, it clearly says that they pay individual coverage on the teachers.

So, the taxpayer is not paying 100% of the family coverage for the new super??

Looks like Ms. Hulke just plum forgot that she filled out OPEN ENROLLMENT forms for at least one of her kids, and then chooses not to do it for another!?!?! This should have been the first hint that she was not in the district.

This is not the person that ISD88 needs now or ever again. Sounds like she does what ever she wants without following the rules.... and before you say the district lines are confusing... look at your tax statement.

Do I understand this article correctly--are the taxpayers paying the total bill for family health insurance for the new superintendent????? Do the taxpayers pay 100% of all teachers and school employees health insurance???

So she knew she did not live in the district as she filled out a open enrollment form in 2007. What a joke.
