The last days?

To the editor:

Is the pandemic and these unsettled times a sign of the last days prophesied in the Bible? In the book of Luke, Jesus said that pandemics, wars, famines, and an increase in earthquakes will precede his coming. Of course, these have all happened before. Between 1918 and 1945 there was the Spanish flu pandemic, famine during the Depression, and two world wars. What makes our times different is that Israel is now a nation, and Israel is a major player in the Last Days. The Bible prophesied that Israel would be destroyed and scattered among the nations (which happened in 70 A. D.), and that in the Last Days, God would gather them together and make them a nation in a single day., which he did on May 14, 1948.

One of the signs of the last days is an increase in earthquakes. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, earthquakes of 5.5 magnitude or more occurred at a rate of 259 per year in the 1950’s, 288 in the 60’s, 370 in the 70’s, 435 in the 8O’s ,486 in the 90’s, 516 in the 2000’s and 490 in the 2010’s.

If indeed the Lord is coming back soon, war and famine will follow. The way to prepare for this is not to stock up on food, but rather to turn to the Lord if you have not done so already. I encourage you to turn from your sin and turn to God. Your very life depends on it.
