Where was Torkelson on insulin bill?

To the editor:

On Feb. 26, the MN House of Representatives passed bill HF3100. This bill provides for an emergency insulin program consisting of the Minnesota Insulin Patient Assistance Program. The bill provides for this program to be administered by the MNSure program. It provides for funding through pharmacy and insulin manufacturer participation as well as government funding.

I was sad to see that it was passed with only Democratic support and that it is likely that the Republican Senate will not support the bill.

I was very upset to see that our representative, Paul Torkelson was absent for the vote. To have our representative take no interest in this important bill is most disturbing. He does not appear to be working for the needs and interests of his constituents.
