To the editor:

I am proud to report that the Nicollet County Board of Commissioners approved a one-time $5,000 pledge to the city of Fairfax to go toward the operations and capital expenses of leasing the Fort Ridgely Golf Course.

Although I am fiscally conservative, I considered it prudent to support the Friends of Fort Ridgely. Nicollet County has two county parks and both are on the eastern edge of the county. I consider it important to support the Friends of Fort Ridgely as they struggle to improve the state park at the west end of Nicollet County. I have personally pledged funds. Brown County and Renville County each have more residents in a thirty mile radius of Fort Ridgely than Nicollet County. I urge residents of both counties to contact their commissioners to follow Nicollet County’s example. Your commissioners will love to hear from you. Thank you.
