Health Care for all important

To the editor:

Your recent editorials have expressed hostility to the Affordable Care Act passed in 2010. You have failed to discuss why the United States stands alone among the other advanced industrial nations in failing to provide health care to all of its citizens.

Health care is much more advanced and expensive than it was 50-60 years ago. It has also become more economically concentrated, so that large groups have more political power and control of Congress. The billionaires like the Koch’s have an ideology which leads them to oppose all efforts by government to provide for the common good if it requires them to pay taxes to help the poor or the lower middle class. The Koch front groups are now mounting a multimillion dollar campaign to put pressure on the Republicans in Congress to undo the ACA which was an attempt to have all citizens , not just the financially well off, have access to health care. The rich play to people’s fears so that their economic interests prevail. It has worked in the past and they have the best paid people to promote it now.
