Town Talk: NUCAT offers High Definition Studio
Located in the lower level of the New Ulm Public Library is the NUCAT (New Ulm Community Access TV) Public Access Studio.
Recently updated with High Definition camera equipment, this studio is used to record library events, talk shows, forums and more. What many people may not know is that it is available to be used by any New Ulm citizen to create their own content to share on the cable access channel.
Public Access provides an opportunity for any person in the community with the resources to create media that is unique and locally relevant. New Ulm is a place with many voices and stories to tell and NUCAT is one way to do just that.
If you do not know how to use a professional camera or editing equipment don’t worry. NUCAT staff offer classes and instruction in the use of all equipment and software needed to create a finished program. Also when reserving the studio for a production a NUCAT staff member will be available to assist. Classes are arranged on an individual basis.
If you don’t have an idea for a show but would still like to learn and help there are always opportunities to volunteer. You can get experience as a camera operator, running the switcher, or setting up and monitoring audio for a studio production.
Classes and access to equipment is free for New Ulm citizens. Contact the NUCAT Coordinator to get started. stevens@newulmmn.gov or 507-359-8290
