Jerome “Jerry” Nachreiner was born on July 22, 1940, to Joseph and Catherine (Platz) Nachreiner in Springfield, MN. He attended country school in Springfield. He was a member of the US Army National Guard. On September 11, 1965, Jerry married Barbara J. Schiefert at St Willibrord’s in Gibbon. The couple raised their two children, Jorja & Scott, in Lafayette, MN. Later in life he met and married Carolyn Hess and gained 3 step-children. Jerry enjoyed gardening and canning and sharing the fruits of his labor with the neighbors. He also loved a good game of Sheephead and Cribbage. He was not afraid to steal your missed cribbage points if you were not sharp enough to count them in yours. Fishing was a favorite pastime, whether it was on a trip up north with his buddies or at Summer Breeze resort on Lake Jefferson where he and Carolyn spent many summers with friends and family. He was a proud grandpa and great-grandpa and was usually the one cheering the loudest at the grandkids’ events.

Jerry was a jack of all trades in his working career. During his younger years he helped his parents on the farm outside of Springfield. He worked for Dannheim’s New Ulm Dairy as a milk truck driver, a butcher at the Lafayette Meat Locker, a bartender at Joey’s bar in New Ulm, a truck driver for Eugene Schugel Trucking and J&R Schugel Trucking and lastly, a cement truck driver for Sioux Valley Ready Mix & Cemstone Concrete. He was most proud of the volunteer work he did for New Ulm Disabled American Vets (DAV) driving vets to their appointments and establishing lifetime memories & friendships with them.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn, children – Jorja (Scott) Bleess of Lafayette, Scott (Laurinda) Nachreiner of Canon City, CO, Tracy (Mike) Rasmussen of Redwood Falls, Michelle (Mark) Liebl of Wabasso, Derek Hess of Sartell; grandchildren Danielle Marenco, Jeffery Bleess, Kali Bleess, Tyler Bleess, Dawson Nachreiner, Brianna Rasmussen, Marissa (Mel) Rasmussen, Jordan Rasmussen, Erin (Mitch) Rohlik, Devan (Madalyn) Liebl, Ryan Liebl, Joe Liebl, Shawn Hess, Ashley (Topher) Gustafson; 7 great grandchildren; siblings – Lillian Lentsch of Arlington, Kathleen Balbach of New Ulm, Linus (Rosie) Nachreiner of New Ulm and Arnold (Ruth) Nachreiner of New Ulm.
