Richard Charles Atkin, 73, went to be with our Lord, Monday, Oct. 11, 2021.

He was born at home in Holts Summit, MO, April 5, 1948, to the late Robert W. and Gertrude (Green) Atkin. He married Belinda Tipton, June 10, 1967, in Kansas City, MO. From 1968-1972 he was in the Air Force at Offutt AFB in Omaha, NE, supervising deployment of the Minutemen Missiles. At the end of his enlistment he completed his degree in Accounting at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. He then went to work for Arthur Anderson and Co as an Auditor. Tiring of being on the road and away from family for several years, he went to work for McPike Inc./Campbell Development Co. After McPike was acquired by FoxMeyer Health Corporation, Rich stayed with Campbell Development. One of his responsibilities was the Fox Acres Country Club in Red Feather Lakes, Colorado. Rich enjoyed living in Colorado and spending many hours in the mountains. After 32 years of service, he retired from McPike/Campbell Development in May 2013. Because of health issues, he and his wife moved to New Ulm in September 2018 to be near their daughter for caretaking assistance.

He is survived by his wife, Belinda; two daughters and three grandsons: Gayle Cole (Mike), and son Zachary, of New Ulm; Jennifer Atkin and sons, Tyler and Nicholas, of Kansas City, MO; sisters-in-law: Marvis Atkin, Mary Atkin, Vicki Schonewetter (Gerald), Cindy Vaughnand Sue Tipton; 10 nieces, 4 nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Rich is preceded in death by his brothers: Howard, Paul, Bob and Jerry; brother-in-law Mick Tipton and sisters-in-law Marjorie Atkin, Ruby Atkin and Earlene Tipton.

Private family services will be held in Kansas City, MO. Family suggests contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
