Shirley Ann Fluegge

NEW ULM — Shirley Ann Fluegge, age 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at her home with her family.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 30, 2021 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Pastor Timothy Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in New Ulm.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Shirley is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Lyle Fluegge of New Ulm; daughter, Amy (Dale) Schlottman of New Ulm; son, Jeffrey Fluegge of New Ulm, Greg (Michelle) Fluegge of New Ulm; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jared), Scott (Rachel), Jessica (Matt), Linda (Ralph), Michael (Kati), Karissa; great grandchildren, Cameron, Cooper, Keian, Cadence, Tyra, Teagan; brother, Steve (Eileen Millerbernd) Clyne of Wilmar; sister-in-law, Norma Clyne; caregivers, Olga Johnson and Morgan Schabert; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Ted and Agnes Fluegge; two infant sisters; and brother, Richard Clyne.

Shirley Ann Clyne was born June 11, 1942 to Joseph and Margaret Clyne in New Ulm. She graduated from New Ulm Public High School. Shortly after, Shirley was united in marriage to Lyle Fluegge on September 16, 1961 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Shirley began her career at the Union Hospital in New Ulm as a Dietician and focused on raising her family. She enjoyed going to church, listening to polka music, playing bingo, going to garage sales, collecting Precious Moments and Elvis memorabilia, and going on family vacations. Spending time with her family and friends was central to Shirley’s life, especially all the time she was able to spend with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all that knew her. Blessed be her memory.
