Shirley N. Larson

NEW ULM — Shirley N. Larson, age 93, of New Ulm, died Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

A private family graveside service will be held at the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is assisting the family.

Shirley is survived by three daughters, Debra (Tim) Woods, Sandra Safford, and Linda (Doug) Schrader; grandchildren, Nicole (Luey) Grathwohl, Nick Safford, Abby (Cameron) Keller, and Joseph Schrader; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane in 1995; her parents; sons, Duane Jr and Robert; granddaughter, Leslie Smith; grandson, Justin Nelson; sister, Eunice (Jerome) Rose; and brother, Burdette Eickholt.

Shirley Nadeen Eickholt was born on September 21, 1927 in Springfield, MN to Warner & Leona (Gramentz) Eickholt. She was united in marriage to Duane Larson on August 23, 1947. Together they raised five children. Shirley was a devoted homemaker and mother. She spent many years traveling the country with Duane while he served 21 years in the US Navy. Shirley loved the adventure of moving and meeting new people at all the US Navy bases. In 1969 Duane and Shirley moved back to New Ulm to be closer to family. Her hobbies were baking, sewing, crocheting, bowling, square dancing and many other crafts. Shirley also enjoyed volunteer work with the Red Cross. She was always there with an open heart and listening ear. Her passion was helping others in any way she could. Shirley will truly be missed and remembered by many.
