Dee, the eldest daughter of Harlan and Lois Holzerland was born on October 9, 1951, in Redwood Falls, MN. In January of 1955, the family moved to New Ulm, MN. Dee moved to Cambridge, MN in 1969 and worked at the state hospital. She moved back to New Ulm in 1972 and began working at 3M. Dee married Dan Leonard on July 6, 1974. They had two children together, Dana and Amber.

After having her second child, she did daycare for several years. In August 1987, she moved to Owatonna, MN and worked with EBD students at the school. She then moved to Pacifica, CA in August of 1988. While there, she worked at an afterschool program at the school, and as a PCA. She attended a year of college and then went to real estate school. She sold real estate from 1989 to 1994. During this time she also waitressed and was a secretary at the real estate office.

In October of 1994, she moved to Cambria, MN to be with her now-husband, Wint Jones. She began working with disabled adults in 1994. On September 23, 2001, she was united in marriage to Winton Jones. She continued working until she retired in 2017.

She is survived by her husband, Wint Jones; children Dana (Amy) Leonard of Maple Grove, MN, and Amber (Jason) Donaghue of Mora, MN; bonus daughter, Emily Bode of White Bear Lake, MN; six grandchildren, Carson, Allison, Abby, Noah, Blake, and Landon; father, Harlan Holzerland; siblings, Carol Wendland of Eagan, MN, Jon (Mary Kay) Holzerland of Lakeville, MN, Scott (Katie) Holzerland of Owatonna MN, and Sue (Greg) Peoples of Owatonna, MN; father-in-law, Merv Jones of Cambria, MN; sister-in-law Vickie (Mike) Randall of Cambria, MN; brother-in-law Richard (Marsha) Jones of Cambria, MN; and by many nieces and nephews, and special friends that were like family, especially Jan and Jeannie, who spent time with her when going out became difficult.

Dee was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Holzerland; mother-in-law, DeLoris Jones; sisters-in-law, Judy Stearns and Connie Jones.

Dee had a great life growing up and loved her family. She found purpose in life by taking care of others, often overlooking her own needs. She was a natural at it. She had an especially soft heart for disabled people and spent much of her life caring for them. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Dee loved having fun, laughing, playing games, listening to music, doing jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with people who made her happy. She was loved by many and will be missed.
