Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am on Monday, June 14, 2021 at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon. Father Bruno Santiago will celebrate the Mass, and burial will follow in the St. Willibrord’s Catholic Cemetery in rural Gibbon.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Sunday, and continue from 10-11 am on Monday at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon.

The Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes of Gibbon are assisting the family with arrangements at this time.

Stan is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mildred “Millie” Forst of Gibbon; his daughters, Jean (Bernard) Zinda of Holloway, Renee Forst of Plymouth, Amy (Peter) Gieseke of St. James, Kara (Patrick) Landgraf of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; his sons, Jon (Carol) Forst, Dale (Janet) Forst, Lyle (Rose) Forst all of Gibbon; his 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Aurelia (Richard) Kral of New Ulm; brother, Robert (Alice) Forst of New Ulm; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Barrett Ugland; his sister, Vernita Kelley; and his brother, Gerald Forst.

Stanley Joseph Forst was born March 20, 1931, in West Newton Township-Nicollet County to Herbert and Agnes (Beranek) Forst. He attended grade school at St. George Catholic School and later went to work on the family farm. Stan proudly served his country with the U.S. Army from 1953-54 during the time of the Korean War. Stan was united in marriage to Mildred Portner on December 30, 1954, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette. This union blessed the couple with four daughters, and three sons whom together they raised in their farm in rural Gibbon. Stan worked his entire career as a hardworking, dedicated farmer. He truly loved the land and took great pride in the work he did. The couple later moved to Gibbon in 1988, and he eventually retired from farming in 1996. Besides his work on the farm, Stan also enjoyed travelling with family and friends and always loved a good laugh. He was a devout member of St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon. Stan was also active with the St. George Catholic Order of Foresters as well as the St. Joseph/St. Elizabeth Catholic United. To give back civically, Stan was a member of the Gibbon Lions Club and also served on the Gibbon Farmers Elevator Board as well as supervisor of the Moltke Township Board. Stan was proud of his faith, his farm, and his family. All of these memories and countless others will forever remain in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him. Blessed be his memory.
