James M. Schneider

COMFREY — James M. Schneider, age 92, of Comfrey, MN died on May 25, 2021, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm and will continue on Saturday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Comfrey, MN.

There will be a Rosary on Friday at 4:00 pm and a Parish Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at St. Paul Catholic Church.

Service will be held at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church on Saturday at 11:00 am.

The clergy will be Father Mark Steffl . Interment will be at the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Comfrey.

Contributions will be distributed among St. John Lutheran Home, The American Legion and Lions Club International.

Jim was born March 14, 1929 in Comfrey, Minnesota to Grayce and Matthew Schneider. He attended college at St. Thomas as well as the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1954 with a degree in Pharmacy. Jim served in the Army from 1954 to 1956. On September 5, 1954, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Hinrichs from Gurley, Nebraska.

He was blessed with wife Vonnie, three children: Teri (Schneider) Petrie, Kurt and Todd Schneider. He loved his family, friends, and the entire Comfrey community. Jim enjoyed sharing his life with each one of us.

Jim was a loving, kind, and selfless person to his family and community. He loved to spend time fishing, golfing, and hunting with his children and then his grandchildren. Many nights at Games Lake were spent playing cards after a long day of fishing and golfing. Jim was a wonderful mentor, friend and confidant who was dearly loved and respected. He also cherished his career as a pharmacist serving the community.

Jim was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Lions Club, The American Legion, and Commercial Club. He served as President of the Comfrey EDA and was instrumental in the rebuilding of Comfrey following the tornado of 1998. He also served on the Northwestern Drug Board of Directors and the Comfrey People’s State Bank Board of Directors.

He is survived by his wife Vonnie, three children: Teri Petrie (John), Kurt (Anne) and Todd (Chelli), nine grandchildren: Vanessa Petrie, Olivia Petrie, Jordan (Schneider) Muller, Nick Schneider, Neil Schneider, Jacob Schneider, Katie Schneider, and Chris Schneider, seven great grandchildren: Maya Daley, Anthony, Owen, Juliana and Helena Muller, Adeline Schneider, and Claire Schneider. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Beverly Larson, and his grandson Dustin Petrie.
