SLEEPY EYE — Roman John Braulick, age 93 of Sleepy Eye died peacefully surrounded by his family on Feb. 22, 2021 at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center.

Public Visitation will be on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye.

COVID-19 rules and regulations will be followed including the use of masks and social distancing.

A private family traditional Latin Mass will be held at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel, on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 1:30 p.m.

Interment will be in Home Cemetery, Veterans Section in Sleepy Eye. Military rites by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard.

Roman John Braulick was born on July 14, 1927 in New Brighton Township, Nicollet County, to Anton and Amelia (Berg) Braulick. Roman attended country school in Stark Township through grade school and continued working on the family farm. In 1952, he was drafted to the Army and served in the Korean War until 1954. Roman was united in marriage to Phyllis Guggisberg on Sept. 6, 1955 at the Holy Trinity Cathederal in New Ulm. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage. Roman farmed north of Sleepy Eye for 34 years and in 1993 they built their retirement home near Golden Gate. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. It was well known to area fishermen to see Roman’s red Ranger pickup at Sleepy Eye Lake as he caught sunfish. Roman and Phyllis loved to travel south for the winter to visit family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Sleepy Eye; children, Randy (Patti) Braulick of Sleepy Eye, Jeanie (Gary) Schultz of Scottsdale, AZ, Allen (Pam) Braulick of Sleepy Eye, Kevin (Bonnie) Braulick of Sleepy Eye, Denise (Dale) Berberich of Cave Creek, AZ and Deanna (Carly) Johnson of Sleepy Eye; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren; sisters, Agnes Gleisner and Delores Franta, both of New Ulm and sisters-in-law, Adeline Braulick and Lorraine Braulick both of Sleepy Eye. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Amelia; sister, Veronica Groebner; twin sister, Florence Windschitl; brothers, Edwin, Harold and Alfred Braulick; brothers-in-law, Valentine Groebner, Lyle Windschitl, Robert Gleisner and Dennis Franta and sister-in-law, Margaret Braulick.
