NEW ULM — Mary Ann Veit, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldier’s Rest section.

Livestreaming of the Mass will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home’s Facebook page.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. Visitation will continue from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at the North Chapel.

The Christian Mother’s Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm.

All guests in attendance are required to wear masks and follow current social distancing guidelines.

Mary Ann is survived by her children, Jeanette (Vic) Kreul of Madison, South Dakota, Lois (Don) Rodewald of Little Falls, Karen (Brian) Fluegge of New Ulm, Brian (Denise) Veit of New Ulm; eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Hacker & Norm, Donna (Albert) Ebnet; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Veit; her parents; sisters, Evelyn Kastner, Irene Groebner; her brothers, Harold Wersal, Leonard Wersal, Bill Wersal; and brother-in-law, Harvey Veit.

Mary Ann Wersal was born January 9, 1929 to William and Mary (Roiger) Wersal at their farm home in Springfield. She attended District 59 country school and St. Raphael’s Catholic School in Springfield. Mary Ann was united in marriage to the love of her life, Leo Veit, on October 24, 1950 at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Springfield. Their union was blessed with four children. Mary Ann dedicated her life to making a home for her family. She also worked at the Kaiserhoff and was a member of St. Anne’s Court, Catholic Order of Forsters, and the Christian Mothers Society.

Above all else, Mary Ann loved all the time she was able to spend with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and all her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Blessed be her memory.
