Services will be held at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Evan, on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. with visitation at the church for one hour prior to the funeral.

All COVID-19 guidelines will be followed, including the use of masks, social distancing and limited capacity.

The clergy will be Pastor Rebecca Krogstad.

Interment will be at the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Patricia “Pat’ Viola Alt was born on Oct. 11,1943 in Mulligan Township, Brown County, Minnesota to Hilarius (Larry) and Marie (Wiltscheck) Tauer. She lived on a farm south of Sleepy Eye in Mulligan Township and attended country school until 6th grade and then graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Sleepy Eye. She took nurses training at St. Joseph’s Hospital graduating with an LPN license. Pat worked as a nurse at the Sleepy Eye Hospital, Sleepy Eye Clinic and the Sleepy Eye Care Center, and was also the business manager at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. She retired in 1987 due to a stroke. In July, 1964 Pat was united in marriage to Raymond L. Alt of Sleepy Eye. Together they had 3 children, David, Daniel, and Deborah.

Pat cherished her time with her grandkids and great grandkids. She had a passion for riding horses, completing word search puzzles and was a master at jigsaw puzzles. She always had candy bars at the farm for the grandkids, and she was seldom without her beloved cappuccino. She loved to travel and was always ready for an adventure. If you wanted to know where she was early in the morning just go to Schultz’s Cafe or the City Limits and you would find her having breakfast, telling stories and lighting up the room with her infectious laugh, huge smile, and an occasional “Oh gorsh!”

Pat is survived by her three children: David (Lauri) of Evan, Daniel (Deb) of Evan, and Deborah (Lonny) Cathcart of Rolling Hills, WY; grandchildren: Samantha, Shelby, Christopher, Matthew, Jeremy, Cecily, Randy, Brie, Timothy, Kendra, Brody, and Katelyn; great-grandchildren: Jackson, Finn, Aurora, and Taylor; brothers: Charles (Pam)Tauer of Oregon, Dennis (Rita) Tauer of Wisconsin, David (Wanda)Tauer of Sleepy Eye, Jerome (Bonnie) of Arkansas, and sister Marlene (Dan) Chambers of Minneapolis, and sister-in-law, Janet Tauer of Burnsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond in 2014, her parents Larry and Marie Tauer, and brothers Larry Tauer and Donald Tauer.
