MARGARET ELSIE (JOHNSON) NORELL

Margaret was born on August 26, 1934 to Martin and Irene (Enter) Johnson of Granby Township, Nicollet County, Nicollet MN. Until she went to school her language was German. The oldest of three children, she was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nicollet. She attended country school, Trinity Lutheran School in Nicollet, Dr. Martin Luther Academy in New Ulm, then graduated at Nicollet Public High School in 1953.

On June 20, 1953, she married Maurice Elroy Norell at Trinity Lutheran Church, Nicollet, MN. She lived out her life of service to many at their Eagle Point Farmstead. She raised her five children, then babysat for all twelve of her grandchildren. She loved to have all her family close to her as much and as often as possible. Many family memories revolve around holidays spent together. All generations preparing lefse, cookies, tea rings and sharing food at the tables.

Her life revolved around faith, farm, family, friends, food, fabric and fellowship. She weaved her life together serving and giving to others. Through many connections and relationships there have been so many memories; 60 years with her card club, her birthday club, home extension and 4H. Her hands were never idle. She spent hours each day in her kitchen cooking, baking, canning, and faithfully serving coffee and treats to her boys several times each day. Her sewing machine also was always very busy creating quilts and clothes and mending after farm mishaps. The farmstead knew her touch as she gardened, weeded and mowed the lawn. She also spent her time at Scandian Grove Lutheran Church, always present for services, taught Sunday School and deeply involved in their womens organizations. She also spent many of her later years, traveling to Mankato for weekly gatherings for Bible Study Fellowship.

In August 2019 Margaret learned she had metastatic pancreatic cancer. She was told that she had a very aggressive cancer and could expect 2-4 months. She lived 17 more months with great grace and strength. On January 19, 2021 she left us to greet those awaiting her in heaven.

She is survived by 5 children and spouses, 12 grandchildren and spouses and 10 greatgrandchildren (one she only met by a hearing a new heartbeat).
