Mavis Wilking

NICOLLET — Mavis Wilking, 86, of Nicollet died Monday, November 30, 2020 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday, December 5, 2020 at our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Mankato with Pastor Paul Lauer officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Nicollet.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service at church on Saturday.

The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.

Social distancing guidelines must be practiced at all times, and all guests in attendance at the visitation and funeral will be required to wear a mask.

Mavis is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Gregg) Hussong of Okabena and Barb (Randy) Poehler of Nicollet; sons, Gary (Deb) Wilking of Dassel and Randy Wilking of Truman; grandchildren, Kyle, Ashley, Kristen, Dusten, Jason, Tobius, Caleb, Cameron, Megan and Melinda; and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roy; her sister Viola Quist; and by her brothers, Harold and Edgar Larson.

Mavis Ann Larson was born August 17, 1934 in New Sweden Township, Nicollet County to Oscar and Anna (Pehrson) Larson. She was a graduate of St. Peter High School and Mankato Commercial College. Mavis was united in marriage to Roy Wilking at the Scandian Grove Lutheran Church in Norseland. After marriage they farmed together in Granby Township and raised their four children. For the 25 years they wintered in Fort Myers Florida near the Minnesota Twins Spring Training facility so they could watch ballgames. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, canning and was a huge Minnesota Twins fan.
