Harriet S. Reinhart

NEW ULM — Harriet S. Reinhart, age 92, of New Ulm passed away Monday, November 23, 2020 at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Monday, November 30, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm, Minnesota. Father Shawn Polman will celebrate the mass. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 am on Monday, November 30, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

The funeral service will be livestreamed through the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home’s Facebook page starting at 11 am on Monday.

Social distancing guidelines must always be practiced, and all guests in attendance at the visitation and funeral will be required to wear a mask.

Harriet Stella Groebner was born May 15, 1928 to Rudolph and Ella (Fischer) Groebner in New Ulm, Minnesota. She grew up on a farm and attended a country school and St John’s Catholic School in Searles, Minnesota. On September 21, 1948 she married Harley J. Reinhart, a World War II Army combat veteran, in St. John’s Catholic Church in Searles. Harriet worked alongside her husband Harley on their farm, and in the cafeteria at Jefferson Elementary School in New Ulm and at Hy-Vee in the deli and bakery. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, MRCI and the Clothing Depot. She was active with the New Ulm Senior Center and participated in dance musicals. She enjoyed dancing and playing cards but above all else she loved to spend time with her family.

Harriet is survived by her daughters, Linda (Douglas) Hitzemann of Mankato, Minnesota; Army Colonel (Ret.) Brenda M. Reinhart of Carrollton, Texas, Sheila (Steven) Luce of Tampa, Florida and son Larry (Shiloy) Reinhart of New Ulm, Minnesota. Seven grandchildren: Nicole (Chris) Crumb, Jaclyn Reinhart, Stephanie (Tim) Sorenson, Kimberly (Matt) Schneider, Rebecca Reinhart, Jennifer (Christian) Liverano and Michelle Luce. Eleven great grandchildren Braiden Reinhart, Zachary Crumb, Ashley Sorenson, Carissa Sorenson, Makayla Sorenson, Austin Sorenson, Ryker Zamzow, Dalton Zamzow, Zeke Zamzow, Odessa Turgeon, and Baron Schneider.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harley J. Reinhart; daughter Debra Ann Reinhart; sisters Sally Holm, Helen Waibel, Gladys Davis, Kathleen (Tudy) Smith and brother Eugene Groebner.

She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. We are comforted in knowing we will meet her again.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the New Ulm Hospice Foundation, New Ulm Medical Center.
