Dorothy Marquardt

NEW ULM — Dorothy Marquardt, 99, of New Ulm died Monday, Sept. 21, 2020 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.

Funeral service will be 12 noon Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm with Father Shawn Polman officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service at the funeral home on Saturday.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Jane (Marquardt) Downs; sons, Ron (June) Marquardt of New Ulm, Steve (Lynn) Marquardt of Mountain Iron and Paul (Caron) Marquardt of Kansas City, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and by her sister Roselyn Kahle McEntyre of Champlin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harvey Marquardt; 2 children in infancy; a sister Elenor Helget; and by her brothers, Louis, Adolph, Thomas and Edwin Kahle.

Dorothy Lucy Kahle was born August 18, 1921 in Olivia to August and Rose (Majxner) Kahle. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in New Ulm. Dorothy was united in marriage to Harvey Marquardt on January 31, 1939 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they resided in New Ulm where she worked as a homemaker and raising their four children. Dorothy enjoyed Kolaches, researching family tress, sewing, quilting making braided rugs, watching Cardinals and listening to Classic Country Music after she lost her sight.

She was a member of the St, Mary’s Catholic Church.
