Lucille M. Burdorf

Lucille M. Burdorf, age 93 of New Ulm (formerly Courtland) died peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2020, at the Divine Providence Senior Living Community in Sleepy Eye.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 3, 2020, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Pastor Grant Bode will officiate, and burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12-1 pm on Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Lucille is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Fluegge of New Ulm; her son, Bruce (Linda) Burdorf of Montevideo; a daughter-law, Sandy Burdorf of New Ulm; her grandchildren, Melissa Fluegge of New Ulm, Daniel Fluegge of New Ulm, Brian Fluegge of Urbandale, Iowa, Scott (Christine) Burdorf of Montevideo, Jill (Jake) Cook of Benson, Paula (Bob) Ring of Hudson, Wisconsin, Keith (Pam) Burdorf of New Ulm; her 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-greatgrandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer Burdorf; her sons, Dale and Roger Burdorf; her son-in-law, Steven Fluegge; great grandchildren, Gabriel Nerland, Isabel Nerland, Noel Nerland, Nicole Burdorf; and her brother, Eldor Langhorst.

Lucille Marie (Langhorst) Burdorf, daughter of Walter and Leona (Precht) Langhorst was born July 30, 1926, on a farm three miles east of Courtland, Minnesota. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church by Pastor Henry Strasen on August 8, 1926, and later confirmed into the faith on March 17, 1940, by Pastor E.J.A. Marxhausen also at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Her bible verse was John 5 – 24 and her confirmation hymn was in German “So Mein Den Meine Hande”. Lucille went to the Lutheran school northeast of Courtland and District 41 northwest of Courtland. On November 28, 1943, she married Elmer E. Burdorf from Gibbon, Minnesota at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Courtland by Pastor E.J.A. Marxhausen. Together they raised four children, Roger Elmer, Bruce William, Bonnie Jean, and Dale Walter. Lucille was a good wife and mother. Besides raising their children and caring for their home, Lucille did the book work for their Sodding Business. Lucille loved to do crafts, and paint ceramics. She especially enjoyed making porcelain dolls and collecting Götz dolls from Germany. Lucille loved country and old tyme music. She enjoyed watching television, and especially loved cheering for the Minnesota Twins and Wild. She never missed a ball game that New Ulm High School played when her son Bruce was playing from 64-65. Later in life she enjoyed cheering for for her grandson Brian play hockey from 2002-03. She was a devout and dedicated member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Although Lucille lived a long and beautiful life, she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Countless cherished memories will forever stay in the hearts and minds of all who were blessed to have her in their lives. Blessed be those memories.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Southern Minnesota Crisis Nursery, Divine Providence Senior Living Community, or Allina Hospice.
