Lynette Kay Spence

NEW ULM — Lynette Kay Spence, age 63, of New Ulm, died Sunday, June 28, 2020 at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Funeral Service will be 1 pm on Friday, July 3, 2020, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH Chapel in New Ulm, with Pastor Gerhardt Miller officiating.

Due to current social constraints, and seating limitations, the visitation will be held from 11:30 am to 1 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Lynette is survived by her three sisters, Deb Baarts of Wenatchee, WA, Janet (Gary) Spence of New Ulm, MN, and Becky (Roy) Hohenstein of Vernon Center, MN; brothers, Larry (Patty) Mortenson of Brooklyn Park, MN and Dwayne Mortenson of Granada, MN; sister-in-law, Roberta Mortenson of New Ulm, MN; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Roger Mortenson and Jack Spence; niece, Alicia Mortenson; and nephew, Michael Mortenson.

Lynette Kay Spence was born on November 6, 1956 in Winnebago, MN to Ralph & Ruth (Gabrielson) Spence. She graduated from Winnebago High School in 1975. Lynette worked as a child care teacher until she started college at Trinity Bible College in North Dakota. She then returned to Minnesota and settled in New Ulm where she worked in the housekeeping department at the New Ulm Medical Center. Lynette was employed there for 15 years until her retirement in 2018. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Lynette spent much of her time on Facebook keeping in touch with her friends and family. She was a loyal friend to us all and will be deeply missed.
