Roger Schnurrer

Roger Frank Schnurrer, age 79, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at his home in New Ulm.

Due to the current social restraints, a private family service will be held at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, North Chapel, in New Ulm. Pastor Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery – Soldier’s Rest Section.

Roger is survived by his sons, Cory Schnurrer, Aaron Schnurrer, and Tyson Goold; grandchildren, Kaden Schnurrer, T.J. Goold, and Jayda Goold, of New Ulm and one aunt, Esther Radke, of Sleepy Eye.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grand daughter, Amber Nicole Schnurrer.

Roger Frank Schnurrer was born November 27, 1940 to Frank and Elvira (Kaping) Schnurrer in New Ulm. He graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in 1958 and then from MSU. Roger was united in marriage to Darla Cordes on January 8, 1971. He served in the United States Army, owned and operated Shorty’s Bar and Die Lorelei Bar, worked as a Realtor, and as a dealer at Jackpot Junction, and as a foster parent for the Sheriff’s Youth program. In his free time, Roger enjoyed bowling, golfing, baseball, and playing cards.

In his lifetime, he managed the New Ulm American Legion Baseball team, leading them to the World Series in 1985. He was inducted into the New Ulm Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016, as well as the New Ulm Bowling Hall of Fame. In his bowling career, he was a three time Minnesota state champion. He also co-founded the Minnesota Blues Festival. He will be dearly missed by those that knew him. Blessed be his memory.
