Lyle DuWayne Larson was born May 2, 1938, in Canby, Minnesota to Christ and Mabel (Gaard) Larson. His family later moved to New Ulm in the late 1950s. Lyle was a 1956 graduate from the New Ulm Public High School and later attended vocational school where he studied auto mechanics. Lyle’s life was blessed with four daughters and two sons whom he helped raise in New Ulm where he worked his nearly 37-year career with Kraft Foods until his retirement in 1996. Lyle also owned and operated his own auto mechanic garage, “Lyle’s Tune-up.” As a true jack-of-all trades, Lyle was able to build his own house and garage, as well as repair anything for those in need. Lyle had a lifelong love of learning, and passed down a wealth of knowledge to his family. Besides his work, there were a variety of hobbies that Lyle enjoyed in life. He was an active and passionate outdoorsman and could be found in his boat fishing on the area lakes or rivers any chance he could. He also enjoyed taking in nature on camping trips, travelling, bike riding, or simply spending time in his garden. Lyle was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm. What he truly loved most in life was his family and every moment he got to spend with them. Countless cherished memories of Lyle will forever stay in the hearts and minds of those who knew him best. He will be missed but never forgotten. Blessed be his memory.
