Leona Mildred (Brei) Lehman was born on December 13, 1918, in Lewiston, MN, the daughter of William and Minnie (Munsterman) Brei. She began her education by attending school in Lewiston before her family moved to Mission, SD. In 1936, Leona returned to Minnesota with her family where they made their home in New Ulm, MN. Leona was working at the Silver Latch Restaurant in New Ulm when she met Clifford Lehman at a local football game.

On May 6, 1939, Leona was united in marriage to Clifford and the couple spent the rest of their married life together farming in Fraser Township of Martin County. After Clifford’s death she continued to farm with her son Eugene Lehman.

Leona was a hardworking devoted wife who loved farm life. Leona spent many hours sewing, crocheting and quilting. She was an active member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and enjoyed the Quilting Club and visiting shut ins. Over the years Leona enjoyed the rewards from her vegetable and flower gardens. She really enjoyed watching the farm crops grow every year and worked hard to help bring in the harvest.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Elaine (Richard) Poulson of New Ulm, MN; daughter-in-law, Betty Lehman of rural Fairmont, MN; five grandchildren, Jeanie (David) Johanson of Ames, IA, Jeffery (Michelle) Poulson of Eagan, MN, Tammy Bulock of Fairmont, MN, Wendy Lindberg of North Mankato, MN, Ed Lehman of New Ulm, MN; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marge Brei of New Ulm, MN and brother-in-law, Donald Ohland of Gibbon, MN; plus everyone whose life she has touched over the past years.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband Clifford, parents, William and Minnie Brei; son, Eugene Lehman (2019); siblings, Raymond Brei, William Brei, Ruth Knittle, Helen Bloedel, Esther Patterson, and Melda Ohland; plus, many other family members and friends.
