Donna M. Soehren

NEW ULM — Donna M. Soehren, age 92, of New Ulm passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Benedictine Care Center in St. Peter.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Grant Bode officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH Chapel. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday.

Donna is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Cal) Schreyer of New Ulm, Judith (John) Zenk of New Ulm, Karie (Larry) Bevill of Red Oak, Texas, LeAnn Gareis of New Ulm; sons, Daniel (Julie) Soehren of New Ulm, Peter Soehren of Tomah, Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Betty Dormady of New Ulm, Mary Ann Miller of New Ulm, Karen (Jerry) Benjamin of Jackson, Jolene (Charles) Frederick of Jackson; brothers, Bill (Karen) Grunst of Windom and Alan (Marlys) Grunst of West Des Moines; sisters-in-law, Irma Grunst of Alpha, Lois Grunst of Green Isle and Martha Soehren of Windom.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth Soehren; daughter, Barbara Joel; brothers Alfred and Alvin Grunst.

Donna Mae Grunst was born July 1, 1927 in Jackson County, Enterprise Township to William and Ethel (Ingebrigtson) Grunst. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1945. She married Kenneth Soehren on August 10, 1947 at the Kimball Evangelical Church in Kimball, Minnesota. She worked as a homemaker, Windings for 1 year and 3M for 13 years. She retired in 1983. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church LWML, Dorcas Circle, Brown Co. Senior Citizens; Bridge Club and 500 Club. She enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, playing cards and watching the Minnesota Twins. She loved spending time with her family especially going to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Blessed be her memory.

In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Redeemer Luther Church and Brown County Senior Citizens.
