Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey and will continue on Thursday from 9:30 until 10:30 am at the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 6:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Comfrey. The clergy will be Father Andy Michels. Interment will be at the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Comfrey. Reception to follow in the church basement.

Eileen Agnes Fredin was born July 24, 1928 to Frank and Louise (Kastner) Meisinger in Springfield. She attended and graduated from Springfield Public Schools. On Feb. 14, 1955, Eileen was united in marriage to Raymond Fredin at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Springfield. Eileen worked prior to marriage at P&M Grocery and then Highway Grocery. She also worked at Fairway Grocery in Comfrey. After their children were in school, Eileen cooked at the Comfrey Public School from 1974 to 1992. She enjoyed traveling, reading, baking, and spending time with family. Eileen was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Comfrey where she sang in the choir.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Mike) Mathiowetz of Comfrey, Craig (Julie) Fredin of Comfrey, and Clyde (Jane) Fredin of Glendale, AZ; grandchildren, Ryan Mathiowetz, Dustin Mathiowetz, Kelly Dunn, Rachel Schumacher, and Joseph Fredin; and great-grandchildren, Caleb Mathiowetz, Aubree Mathiowetz, Jackson Dunn, Jacob Dunn, Joshua Dunn, and Keanan Schumacher; and sister Ardis Olson of Sleepy Eye. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray and sisters, Margaret Schunk and Lucille Maurer.
