Helen is survived by her daughters, Ann (Jeff) Franta of Lafayette, Joan (Dan) Wilson of Piedmont, SD and Rita (Tony) Simonson of Rosemount; her sons, Rick (Jenny) of New Ulm, Jim of Farmington, and Paul (Jo) Eckstein of New Ulm; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Leon (Marion) and Thomas Haubrich, both of New Ulm; and other relatives and friends.

Helen greatly missed her husband, Leo, who passed away in 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Robert Haubrich.

Helen Mary Haubrich was born on October 10, 1932 in New Ulm to Edward & Josephine (Arnoldi) Haubrich. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1950. Helen was united in marriage to Leo F. Eckstein on December 30, 1952 at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. She and Leo raised their family in rural New Ulm, and Helen cared for them all as a loving homemaker. Later when Leo battled cancer for 13 years, Helen was there to take care of him and be by his side. Helen enjoyed cooking and baking rolls, coffee cakes and chocolate chip cookies. She loved spending time with her family, especially doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen’s devotion to her Catholic faith was unwavering and truly an important part of her life. She was a member of the Christian Mother Society and the St. Elizabeth Catholic United Council. Helen will be missed by all those who knew her. Blessed be her memory.

Memorials are preferred to Cathedral of the Holy Trinity or NUACS.
