Larry Netland

NEW ULM — Larry Netland, 65, of rural New Ulm died Monday, May 27, 2019 with his daughter and son-in-law by his side, at New Ulm Medical Center from a heart attack.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm. Pastor Gene Alms will officiate. Burial will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Sunberg at a later date.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday, June 3, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Larry is survived by his children, Darren Netland of Faribault; daughter, Teresa (Nick) Pallansch and their children, Hannah, Evan, Katrina, Morgan, and Chase of Willmar; brothers, Bruce (Merry) Netland of Pennock, Wayne (Denise) Netland of Pennock, Arlen Netland and Michelle of Brooten, Galen Netland and Martina of Quinlan, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Louise; step-dad, Kermit Olson; mother, Vernita Olson; and father, Lloyd Netland.

Larry Allen Netland was born August 23, 1953 to Vernita (Wrigg) and Lloyd Netland in Willmar. He graduated from Kerkhoven High School in 1971. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Louise Nelson, on Sept. 4, 1971. They had two children, Darren and Teresa. Larry graduated from Ridgewater College in Willmar in 1973. They moved to New Ulm, MN and Larry started working for 3M as a Master Machinist, Tool and Die maker. Larry worked for 3M for 40 years working his way up to Plant Engineering Supervisor, before retiring in early 2012. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and restoring cars, tractors, and trucks. He was an amazing grandfather, storyteller and jokester. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm.
