Leslie P. Schultz

LAFAYETTE — Leslie P. Schultz, age 71, of Lafayette passed away Tuesday, May 7th, 2019 at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11th, 2019 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH Chapel. Pastor Heidi Hagstrom will be officiating. Military Honors will take place at the Funeral Home by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11th, 2019 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH Chapel.

Leslie is survived by his wife Deborah; daughters, Angela Goetz, of New Ulm, Heather (Jason) Embry, of Wells, Heidi (Tim) Schmuck, of Lafayette; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Linda (Gerald) Blekestead, of Hanska and his brother, Carl (Donna) Schultz, of LaSalle.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Schultz; his mother, Darlene Paulson; granddaughter, Ashley Rose Goetz and great-grandson, Gage William Parker.

Leslie Paul Schultz was born June 4, 1947 to Carl and Darlene (Emery) Schultz in Leland, Iowa. He attended Madelia High School. Leslie served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Deborah King on October 9, 1971 in St. Peter, Minnesota. He worked in maintenance for most of his life and as a bridge inspector for Big R. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and fishing and was a collector of sorts. He loved to spend time with his family especially his grandchildren.
