Sandra Lee Schmidt Wegner

NEW ULM — Sandra Lee Schmidt Wegner passed away peacefully in her home in Nicollet Co, rural New Ulm, MN on April 23, 2019, just ten months after being diagnosed with cancer.

Funeral Services for Sandra L (Mrs. Dennis) Wegner will be 11:00 am Monday May 6, 2019 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in New Ulm.

Visitation: 4-7 pm Sunday May 5 at MN Valley Funeral Home, South Chapel, New Ulm, and at the church one hour prior to services.

Sandy is survived by: Her husband of 53 years, Dennis of New Ulm, and her son, Dean of Durango, CO.; Sisters-in-Law; Patricia “Pat” (Bill) Gray of Butterfield, and Priscilla “Pixie” Wegner of Comfrey. Nephews: Cris Bertilson of Carrington, SD, and Michael Wegner of Comfrey. Great Niece, Isabelle Wegner of Rosemont. Close first cousins, Duane (Jane) Ravenberg of Thomasville, NC and Sonja Loudenback of Leawood, KS.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and Father-in-law, Herbert Wegner and Mother-in-law, Mildred Wegner.

Sandy, the only daughter of Paul and Cora (Ravenberg) Schmidt of Butterfield, MN, was born July 26, 1943 in Mt. Lake, MN. Sandy was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Butterfield. She graduated, Butterfield-Odin High School Class of 1961 and received her BS from Mankato State College in 1965, with honors. Sandy and her husband, Dennis B. Wegner were married June 26, 1965 at First Lutheran Church of Butterfield. They moved to New Ulm, MN and joined Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Sandy worked for 40 years for Kemske Paper Co. in New Ulm, retiring as their Controller/Secretary-Treasurer. Sandy was active in the MN Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America serving as an officer in several chapters and co-chairperson of many events. She enjoyed traveling around the country via motorhome and wintering with friends in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was an excellent card player and played and traveled with 3 other special couples for over 50 years.
