Carol married Philip Sidney Davis on January 3, 1976 in Jeffers, Minn. God blessed the couple with three children: Scott Andrew, Christopher Lee (Becky Clark-Davis) of Spring Lake Park, Minn. and Jenifer Elizabeth of Excelsior, Minn. Carol is the daughter of Andrew and Dolores (Elsing) Fruehling of rural Sanborn, Minn. and sister to Rodney and Judy Fruehling of rural Jeffers, Minn. She is aunt to nieces, spouses, and their children Melissa and Randy Kaisner (Tyler and Raenah), Herb and Michelle Scott (Megan and Ian), and Ashley and JJ Noel. Carol’s family also includes mother-in-law Elizabeth (Cutherell) Davis; sisters-in-law Marianne Owens (Richard, Ashley, Heather, Brian, and Megan), Joy and David Smith (Alex and Rachel), and Ruth Davis; brothers-in-law James Davis and Joel and Sara Davis (Andrew and Kyle). Several cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and close friends also survive her.

Carol was preceded in death and resurrection by her son Scott in infancy, mother-in-law Elizabeth, brother-in-law James, uncles Donald and Harold Elsing, her grandparents John and Regina Elsing, and Edward and Paula “Ella” Fruehling and step-grandmother Ida Fruehling.

Carol graduated from Jeffers High School in 1970 and Saint Cloud State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Education in 1975. After working for a brief time at AMPI in New Ulm, she spent the next 36 years working for the New Ulm Public Schools in the Athletic Department and as the Coordinator of Community Education, retiring in 2016. Hosting dozens of trips to the Minnesota State Fair, the Ordway, the Guthrie, and countless other events, and coordinating local community education classes enabled thousands of people to have the opportunity for personal growth and to experience the joys of life. Carol loved camping with her family, quilting and sewing, visiting with family and friends, and was significantly involved in the ministries of First United Methodist Church of New Ulm.

Memorials are preferred to First United Methodist Church UMW, the NUMAS Haus, or the New Ulm or Mayo oncology departments.

Cancer did not win. Death did not win. Pain did not win. Dust and ashes will not win. The victory goes to Jesus Christ and his work of salvation. To Him be the glory, great things He is doing.
