Marlys Reinhart was born June 15, 1934 to Ireneaus “Sam” and Lucia (Zins) Reinhart in New Ulm. She was a 1952 graduate of Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm. On October 2, 1954, Marlys married Vernon A. Kitzberger at St. John’s Catholic Church in Searles. They were blessed with 7 children whom together they raised on the family farm. Marlys worked as a secretary in the New Ulm Area Catholic School system for 33 years, 27 of those years at St. John’s Catholic School in Searles. She was like a “second mom” to all the kids that went through the Catholic school system. She received the NUACS Distinguished Alumni Award in 2004. Marlys also enjoyed reading, gardening, mushroom hunting and especially playing cards with their many friends and neighbors. Vernon and Marlys loved traveling with their best friends, Bob and Electa Griebel, having many great times together. But above all else, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, attending their numerous activities, of which she was their biggest supporter.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Reflections unit at Ridgeway on German in New Ulm, for their wonderful care and compassion given to Marlys.
