Jesse Versch

NEW ULM — Jesse Versch, 91, of New Ulm died Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.

Funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday, March 23, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Donald Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of service at church on Saturday.

The Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Malinda Versch; son, Leslie (Vicki) Versch; daughters, Sandra Havemeier and Kathy (Tim) Nelson; grandchildren, Justin Havemeier, Jeffrey (Aileen) Havemeier, Kayla (Jacob) Bell, Chyla Nelson, Staci (Eric) Beranek and Connor Versch; nine great grandchildren; and a brother, Albert Versch.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law, Gail Versch and Virginia Faas; brother-in-law, Robert Faas; and his son-in-law, Galen Havemeier.

Jesse was born December 24, 1927 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin to Wilmer and Natalie (Lom) Versch. He was united in marriage to Malinda Marunde on May 21, 1955. Jesse was hired at Kraft Foods in New Ulm April 15, 1955. He was the first employee hired at the New Ulm Kraft Plant where he was Maintenance Supervisor for 32 years until his retirement in 1987. Jesse was also a gunsmith well into his 80’s, loved gardening, birds and deer hunting with his group at a cabin in the north woods. He was a past member of the Minnesota National Guard, New Ulm Battery and Minnesota Deer Hunters Association.
