Irene M. Wenisch

SPRINGFIELD — Irene M. Wenisch, age 99, of Springfield, died Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the St. John’s Lutheran Home in Springfield.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2019 the St. John’s Lutheran Home Chapel in Springfield, with Chaplain Noel Wetter officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. John’s Lutheran Home. Burial will be in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Irene is survived by her children, Karla (Allen) Mathiowetz of Morgan, Steve (Flo) Wenisch of Springfield, Colleen (John) Jenniges of Springfield, and Karen (Ted) Gatfield of Redwood Falls; 12 grandchildren: and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vincent in 1999; and her two brothers, Norbert and Aloys Weyker.

Irene Margaret Weyker was born on February 18, 1920 in Morgan to Charles & Mary (Gulden) Weyker. She was united in marriage to Vincent Wenisch on October 5, 1939 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan. Irene was a homemaker, raising her children on the family farm in Springfield. Irene and Vincent spent a year in Arizona, before returning to Redwood Falls, where they retired. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, sewing, and crafting. But most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
